Cancioneiro da Biblioteca Nacional
- Cancioneiro da Biblioteca Nacional
:"This article refers to a medieval songbook. For the Renaissance songbook, see Cancioneiro da Biblioteca Nacional (Renaissance)"
The "Cancioneiro da Biblioteca Nacional" (in English: "National Library Songbook"), commonly called "Colocci-Brancutti", is a compilation of Galician-Portuguese troubadour lyrics. These "cantigas" (songs) are classified into three groups: "cantigas de amigo" (songs about a boyfriend), "cantigas de amor" (love songs) and "cantigas de escárnio e mal-dizer" (scorn songs).
The poems were compiled in Italy in the early 16th century (possibly around 1525) by the order of humanist Angelo Colocci. The songbook was acquired by the Portuguese State in 1924 and is being kept in the Portuguese National Library in Lisbon. A similar version of this songbook is kept in the Vatican Library, called the Cancioneiro da Vaticana.
