Romuald Jałbrzykowski (7 February 1876 - 19 June 1955) was a Polish
Catholic priest. From 1925 to 1926 he was thebishop of Łomża ; from 1926 to 1955,archbishop of Wilno (Vilnius) and from 1945 to 1955,bishop of Białystok .From 1942 to 1944 he was imprisoned by the
Nazi Germany . In 1945 he was freed by theRed Army , only to be quickly deported to Poland as the Soviets tried to destroy thearchdiocese of Vilnius in theLithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic .After his death in 1955, the archdiocese of Vilnius had no bishop till
Julijonas Steponavičius became one in 1989.
