The two opening songs are among the many
garage rock records that could have been national hits; the former was pulled from the market because of the supposed drug references in the lyrics, while the latter suffers from less than optimal production. A retrospective album ofSonny Flaharty and the Mark V recordings from 1963 to 1967 was released onDionysus Records in 2000, showing a slightly different spelling than is given on this album. Several rarecover song s are included in this volume, including a version ofPink Floyd 's "See Emily Play " by the Canadian bandThree To One . Dozens of versions exist of two of the songs,Bo Diddley 's "I'm a Man" andBilly Roberts ' "Hey Joe ". The artist on the latter song,The Golden Cups , is among a small number ofJapan ese bands that have tracks represented in the Pebbles series. The closing track appears to have been recorded in a make-your-own-record booth by a teenage girl and her friends "under the influence".Track listing
