holiday , usually celebrated in Mid-August“Hoya Hoye” comes from achildren’s song chanted duringa holiday similar to Halloweencalled "Buhe." Kids travel doorto door in groups singing thistraditional call and response.They pound walking sticks tothe beat and take turnssinging praises in rhyme toearn coins and dough. “The kidhas to be sincere and originalin his rhymes to get paid,”says Schommer, who set thetempo of the track based onhearing a young boy in AddisAbaba sing it while shiningsomeone’s shoes. “EveryEthiopian knows this songregardless of tribe.” Buhe iscelebrated August 21st.
