RiffWorks

RiffWorks is a recording software product developed by Sonoma Wire Works.

RiffWorks Line 6 Edition was released in 2004 for the Line 6 GuitarPort, PODxt and TonePort family of products. RiffWorks Standard was released in 2006 to work with more ASIO and CoreAudio devices (including the Line 6 devices listed above). RiffWorks Line 6 Edition is still distributed by Line 6. RiffWorks Standard is distributed as a download from Sonoma Wire Works and in boxes by IK Multimedia. RiffWorks T4 (free edition) was released in July 2008 and is distributed as a download from Sonoma Wire Works.

RiffWorks recording software helps musicians easily record ideas and entire songs complete with drums and effects, collaborate online with other musicians, and podcast their songs. The Riff-based workflow, loop recording, and automatic track creation make RiffWorks intuitive to use because the focus is on playing, not engineering.

RiffWorks includes InstantDrummer, 7 effects, RiffLink online jamming, RiffCaster instant podcasting, and more.

Four tempo-synchronized backup drum technologies are integrated into RiffWorks: The unique InstantDrummer allows users to play along with recordings of famous drummers that were made in professional studios and even manipulate them. Nine InstantDrummer sessions are included with RiffWorks Standard and more are available. There is also a REX Player, ReWire Mixer, and a Metronome.

Built-in RiffLink online music collaboration allows musicians from around the world to create songs together in what feels like real-time. Up to 4 people can work on the same song file at the same time and chat while doing so. New tracks appear as soon as they are finished streaming and tend to be pretty much perfectly in sync. Each layer is instantly streamed to other current users and saved on the server for those who wish to contribute later. There are no issues with latency or with distance between users because of its loop-based recording technology. With one click users can podcast songs and get feedback from others on RiffWorld.com.
