Pacific Rim Shopping Centre

Pacific Rim Shopping Centre is an outdoor shopping centre in Port Alberni, British Columbia, formatted as a power centre [ [http://www.alberni.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=6151 New mall site] at Alberni.ca forums] .

Wal-Mart Canada, Extra Foods and Staples Business Depot comprise Pacific Rim Centre's three anchor tenants. Extra Foods was the first of the mall's stores to be built, opening on November 12, 2004 [ [http://www.alberni.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=1002 Extra Foods] at Alberni.ca forums] , followed by Wal-Mart on January 27, 2005 on the site of the former McKinnon's Dairy on Johnston Road [ [http://www.alberni.ca/forums/showthread.php?t=1309 Wal-Mart] at Alberni.ca forums] . The Staples store opened on September 22, 2007.

Other stores and services located at Pacific Rim Centre include Starbucks, A&W, the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Canada Post, Warehouse One: The Jeans Store, First Choice Hair Cutters and three businesses relocated from the Alberni Mall across the street—Suzanne's (a women's wear chain), Coastal Community Insurance Services (formerly Alder Insurance) and The Source by Circuit City. Construction at Pacific Rim Centre is currently ongoing, with more businesses slated to arrive as the new power centre nears completion.
