Ann Fraley, under the name "Auntie Freeze," was one of the premiere female wrestlers of the 1950s. She retired after two decades in the ring to become a trainer, eventually taking on four protégées who would become known as the Grapplers: Titania,
Poundcakes , Screaming Mimi, andLetha . Under her management, the Grapplers became renowned for their colorful personalities and ringside antics; however, despite her tireless promotion, they were denied the opportunity by the wrestling federation to make the amount of money their male counterparts made. The Grapplers were contacted by a wrestling fan who happened to be a representative of theRoxxon Oil Corporation, who offered them the opportunity to supplementary income by performing a covert operation for the company. However, the mission failed and they were tried and jailed for their misdeeds.Auntie Freeze, in the meantime, was scouting out new candidates for wrestling stardom. When the
Unlimited Class Wrestling Federation was formed, she contacted its promoter to negotiate a women’s division. She was then contacted by thePower Broker , to augment the wrestlers’ strengths to superhuman levels. Auntie Freeze sent the original Grapplers (after they were paroled), as well as all of her new clients, to undergo this treatment. Auntie Freeze has since maintained a stable of these women wrestlers collectively as the Grapplers.External links
