Saint Pharailde (8th century) is a Belgian
saint in the west. Her dates are imprecise, but she lived to a great age and died on January 5 at ninety. She was the sister ofGudula and the niece ofGertrude of Nivelles . She was married for many years to an abusive man. When he died, she dedicated herself to charity.Her
feast day isJanuary 5 , and her feast, "Fru Verelde", was a major festival inGhent in the late 19th century (according to "Acte de Pharailde" 1882).External links
