The Channon, New South Wales

The Channon, New South Wales

"The Channon" (rhymes with "Shannon") is a village in the Northern Rivers, New South Wales area of New South Wales, Australia. It is about 18 kilometres northwest of Lismore, New South Wales and approximately midway between Lismore and the village of Nimbin.

It is governed by the Lismore City Council.

Like a lot of villages in the area, there is dairy farming, general grazing and small crop farming. There are also many permaculture and organic farms and macadamia and coffee plantations. Like nearby Nimbin, The Channon is a gateway to the rainforests of Nightcap National Park.

On the second Sunday of each month, a crafts market is held at the cricket oval which attracts visitors, musicians and vendors from around the district. An opera is held there each August.
