'Folia Rhomboidea' is one of a number of cultivars possibly arising from the crossing of the Wych Elm "Ulmus glabra" with a variety of Field Elm "Ulmus minor". First mentioned by Morren in "Jour. Agric. Prat. Belg." 4: 509, 511, 1851 as "U. campestris latifolia, foliis rhomboides".

Description

Reputed to resemble 'Pitteurs' but for the rhomboid shape of the leaf Green, P. S. (1964). Registration of cultivar names in Ulmus. "Arnoldia", Vol. 24. Arnold Arboretum, Harvard University. [http://arnoldia.arboretum.harvard.edu/pdf/articles/1605.pdf] ] .

Cultivation

Once grown on the Pitteurs estate, St-Trond, Belgium, the tree is not known to remain in cultivation.
