2003 AFL Draft at pick 4 from thePeel Thunder Football Club .Ray quit the Western Bulldogs at the end of the 2008 Premiership Season to look for more opportunities elsewhere.
During Trade Week of 2008, Ray was traded along with Round 3 Draft Pick, No. 48 overall to St. Kilda for their Round 2 Pick, No. 31 overall
