Tedla Bairu (1914 - 1984) was an
Eritrea npolitical figure . He was the last independenthead of state of Eritrea in 1952. He was then the firstChief Executive of Eritrea from 1952 in federation withEthiopia , until he resigned in 1955. He was described as an "opportunist" by his opponents for his unwavering Unionist position. His career paralleled that ofWoldeab Woldemariam besides the fact that he did not support Eritrean independence.
