Murder victim
Carl Bridgewater was a third year (equivalent of today's Year 9) pupil at Buckpool School when he died on19 September 1978 .A front-page article in the
Stourbridge News newspaper was run, with Headteacher Mike Lambert slammingSecretary of State for Children, Schools and Families Ed Balls after Mr. Balls threatened the school with closure because it was not achieving the target of 30% A* to C GCSE's in Maths and English. The school is in the top 9% of the entire country (and second in the Dudley Borough) for GSCE results in all the other subjects and underachieving in English and Maths GSCEs as well.External links
