Bad Sekta is an independent English record label, founded in Halstead in 2005, with a mission statement to release new music and video by underground & experimental electronic music artists.

"Bad Sekta showcases experimental electronic music from genres that have grown and developed out of the free party scene. Fusing elements of Drum’n’Bass, Techno, Hardcore and Industrial, as well as a hefty dose of experimentation; non-commercial styles of music have been able to flourish in the free party environment and Bad Sekta aims to bring some of these artists to the ear of those who’d normally pass them by" - Jessica Bateman, IP1 Magazine 2007

Founded by Will Druett (Phuq), latterly (since 2007) partnering with Tom Whiston (Machinochrist), they have consistently released a varied & high quality selection of artists, both established & previously unknown.

The first release for the label (BAD001) was a compilation cd, Various Autists 2, in a limited edition of 400, financed by a small inheritance received by Phuq. It was mainly given away free at various free parties & club nights, although some were sold or given away with later releases. This release was well received amongst the free party community.

Following this was a series of limited edition cdrs (generally in editions of 123), including Phuq - "K Muzak (volume one)",
Phuq - "Ill Fm K Liveset Bizness", Lastboss - "Nishizono Shinji" and Cleggfu - "Teeth".

A limited dvdr series has also been started, with first release the "Value" ep by British audiovisual artist
Shortfacedbear.

The label has also had a close relationship with London-based internet radio station Ill FM since its inception, with artists appearing regularly on the show. Latterly some Ill FM related artists have also become part of the labels family.

Bad Sekta have also repeatedly been played on radio stations around the world, notably on the Dbreach show on Resonance FM & KSER FM in the USA.

Recently the label has released a selection of free MP3 albums, compilations & eps, with an emphasis on putting out new music & expanding its range of styles to include genres such as dubstep & noise.

In 2008 the label moved to London, including its digital downloads store Crimes of tha Future.
