Iowa Senate since 2003 and is currently an assistantmajority leader . He received his BS and MPA fromDrake University .Hatch currently serves on several committees in the Iowa Senate - the Appropriations committee; the Economic Growth committee; the Human Resources committee; the Labor and Business Relations committee; and the State Government committee. He also serves as chair of the Health and Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee. His prior political experience includes serving as a representative in the Iowa House from 1984-2002, serving as board member of Des Moines Water Works in 1998, board member of Des Moines Public Housing from 1996-1997, board member of Children & Families of Iowa from 1980-1984, and a congressional candidacy in 1995 and 1996.
