Zachary Carrettin is an American violinist. He completed his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at the Shepherd School of Music, Rice University, Houston, Texas, where he studied classical violin with Kenneth Goldsmith.

Carrettin has toured Europe with the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, played numerous solo performances with Orchestra X including new works on electric violin, and has performed concertos on baroque violin with the American Bach Soloists, Camerata Pacifica, and many other ensembles.

He has been composer-in-residence with the aerial vertical dance troupe, Project Bandaloop, and has toured extensively with them in the U.S., South America, and Europe, including opening for The Black Crows, Cake, David Lee Roth, and Ray Charles. He was a founder of the cutting edge Tango-Nuevo band, Los Peregrinos, and performed at the Festivale Oriente-Occidente in Italy, at the San Luis Obispo Mozart Festival, and for countless events, including those for Meyer Sound, The Venetian, General Motors, Resorts Casino, Gore-Tex, and for the openings of the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts and the Dayton Center for the Performing Arts.

His own arrangement of Vivaldi’s “La Folia” was premiered at the San Francisco War Memorial Opera House, and his music for Amelia Rudolph’s aerial ballet, “Crossing”, was premiered at the Kennedy Center.

He has played nearly one hundred cities internationally as violinist for Yanni and appears with the orchestra on the 2006 live album and video, "Yanni Live! The Concert Event".

Carrettin composes new work for acoustic and electronic instruments, and collaborates with dance and film. He is involved in an ongoing project of resurrecting the lost music of eighteenth-century Venetian composers.
