- Salahuddin of Aceh
In
Indonesia n history, Salahuddin was the secondsultan of Aceh , reigning from 1530 to 1537 or 1539. He was the eldest son ofAli Mughayat Syah , the first sultan of Aceh. Relative to his father and brother,Alauddin Riayat Syah al-Kahar , who deposed him, he was a weaker ruler. It is unclear whether he was deposed before or after the launch of an unsuccessful attack on Malacca in 1537. Hoesein Djajadiningrat believed that the coup came first and the attack was led by Alauddin al-Kahar, [Hoesein Djajadiningrat, "Critisch overzicht van de in Maleische werken vervatte gegevens over de geschiedenis van het Soeltanaat van Atjeh", "Bijdragen tot de Taal-, Land- en Volkenkunde", vol. 65 (1911), pp. 135-265. Cited in Ricklefs, 33] while Denys Lombard places the coup two years after the attack, which he believes was led by Salahuddin himself.
