This subspecies is endemic to the
South Island ofNew Zealand . It is only found in a block of mountainous coastal country, isolated by the sea to the west, and by the Mokihinui and Ngakawau rivers.hell description
The shell has conspicuous spirally banded lines in dark reddish-brown upon a light reddish-brown ground above, and a yellowish-olive ground on the under surface. There are no axial stripes.
The shell diameter is up to 45 mm, and height up to 25 mm.
