Born in 1953, Abdul Ilah Khatib ( _ar. عبد الإله الخطيب) is a former Minister of Foreign Affairs for
Jordan .Married, and the father of three children, Khatib graduated with his
Masters degree inInternational economics fromJohns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies , a Masters degree inInternational Communications from theAmerican University inWashington, D.C. , and a Bachelor's degree inpolitical science from theSchool of Political Science inAthens, Greece .In 1995, Khatib was appointed as the Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, though the following year he left to become the managing director of
Jordan Cement Factories Company where he remained until 1998, when he was first appointed as Foreign Minister, and remained in that position for four years.Khatib was an overseer of Jordan's contributions to the Arab-Israeli peace talks throughout the 1990s, and was stationed at Jordan's embassy in Washington, D.C.
