Allan Andrews (British politician)

Allan Andrews (British politician)

Allan Robert Andrews (born 09 March 1983) is a Conservative Party politician in Coventry, England.

Early career

Andrews first stood for election in 2004 in the Longford ward of Coventry at the age of 21. The elections that year were all out elections with all three seats in the ward contested by all the major parties. Andrews did not win the seat, but reduced the Labour majority and finished first out of the three Conservatives running in the election.

Andrews finished his university studies at the University of Kent at Canterbury in Politics and International Relations in 2005 and contested the Binley and Willenhall seat in the 2006 elections, managing to reduce the majority of the incumbent John Mutton, but not securing enough votes for a Conservative victory.

In 2007 Andrews was selected to replace a retiring Councillor in the Wyken ward. Despite a tough campaign, Andrews was unable to counter-act the effects of a city-wide swing against the Conservatives.

Andrews is also a former Conservative Future Area Chairman for the Birmingham, Coventry and Solihull area and Branch Chairman for Coventry Conservative Future.

Current career

Andrews is a school governor in the city of Coventry and is a Feoffee for the Bonds Hospital Estate Charity, founded in 1508 and presently works for the UK Parliament
