website_name =Witchford Village College (sometimes abbreviated to W.V.C.) is a
secondary school in the village ofWitchford . Currently, over 850 students, aged 11 to 16, and approximately 50 teachers. The current head teacher is David Taylor, who took over from John Shield.About the college
Witchford Village College is described as an 'innovative' Fact|date=January 2008 school, due to the former head teacher introducing new ideas to the school. These include:
*A house system - Students are placed in one of four houses in which competitive activities can take place between houses.
*The three lesson day - An idea in which less lesson time is lost in transition between lessons, and that students only pack three lessons worth of equipment. This has since been reverted to the traditional six lessons per day as of September 2007.
*A vertical form group system - students are placed in forms which have a selection of students from each year group to encourage a wider mix of students, with the exception of Year 11's, who are placed in separate horizontal form groups and are removed from the house system.Catchment Area
