Walter Tkaczuk

Walter Tkaczuk

Walter Tkaczuk (born September 29, 1947 in Emsdetten, Germany) was an OHA hockey player for the Kitchener Rangers from 1963-64 to 1967-68. During his last season with Kitchener, he was given the chance to play two games with the New York Rangers. Spending most of the following season with New York, Tkaczuk played 5 games with the Buffalo Bisons of the AHL.

The 1969-70 season was Walter's first entire season in the NHL; he went on to play the remainder of his NHL career (13 seasons with the Rangers - 1968-69 to 1980-81).

Tkaczuk played a total of 945 NHL regular season games, scored 227 goals and had 451 assists for a total of 678 points, and 554 penalty minutes.

According to NHL Hall of Famer Bill Chadwick, he was a tireless determined digger when it comes to fighting for loose pucks in the corner. Says Chadwick: "There aren't many centres who'll work as hard in those corners than the way he does".
