- Friendly (Farthing Wood)
Friendly is a character from the "Farthing Wood" series of children's books.
Friendly is Fox and Vixen's son. He is probably the only one of the four cubs that does not suit his name. But this is only from what we see. Friendly is a little bit of a show-off and is constantly trying to show his father what he is capable of. Friendly hardly ever seems to go against his father's rules.
When Bold is captured by the blue foxes, Friendly goes with his father to try to get him out and is annoyed when Bold was not there. He was also the one that first found Ranger and Charmer together and told Fox all about it.
Out of the four cubs, Friendly is the most against the blue foxes, not allowing any, especially Ranger set foot on Farthing territory. For some reason, he does not like Ranger very much, he does not trust him.
In Season 3, Friendly only appears once, although the other foxes his own age (Charmer, Ranger and Whisper) spend time together and attack the rats as a team. He does not attend the meetings held at Fox's den to discuss the rats. However in this one scene where he does appear he seems happier and more playful than in previous episodes.
Throughout the series, Friendly remains extremely loyal to his father.
In the books by Colin Dann, Friendly does warm up to the blue foxes and has a mate called Russet, who is Ranger's cousin. They have a son called Pace.
In a letter from Steve Walker, he explains that Friendly was meant to be in season 3 more but the producers wanted him cut out, along with another fox whom he has forgotten the name of.
