This subspecies is endemic to the
South Island ofNew Zealand . It is found at altitudes of between 3,000 and 3,500 ft on hills inOtago in the South Island.hell distribution
The shell has a less globose
body whorl than "Powelliphanta spedeni spedeni", and in consequence a more exserted spire. The umbilicus is wider and there are no dorsal striations.The shell diameter is up to 39 mm, and height up to 25 mm.
