Nicknamed "Pepe" he made his debut onNovember 25 ,1992 against Ecuador (1-1), and played his last international match for his native country in a World Cup Qualifier onSeptember 9 ,2003 against Chile (1-2), at age 33.Soto started his club career with Deportivo Municipal in 1987. He also played for
Sporting Cristal andAlianza Lima in Peru.Soto spent several seasons playing in
Mexico with Puebla and Celaya.Currently, he is the manager of
