Northern Knights U18 club, and has been earmarked by the club to hold down the fullback position in the years to come, set to replaceShane Wakelin andSimon Prestigiacomo when the pair depart the league scene.John suffered a serious neck injury in the 2007 pre-season, sidelining him for the season. He recovered to make his debut in Round 3, 2008 against Richmond, and kicked two goals.
