- Stuck With Arthur
Stuck With Arthur is an American
alternative rock orpop rock band, originating from Dallas Center and Grimes, Iowa.Band members consist of
Adam Bartelt (Guitar/Lead Vocals), Thomas Logan (Guitar/Back Up Vocals),Spenser Ford (Bass), and Chris Ford (drums). Their first release, aself-titled EP , was released in November, 2005. On May 25, 2007, the band released another album entitled "The Solstice." The album is evidence of the band's continual growth, as they stray from their pop-punk roots and grow towards a more mature rock sound.
Currently one of the most popular bands in the Des Moines music scene, the band can point to several events that were major stepping stones in the process of getting to where they are today. At a Halloween show in 2004, the band opened for Roper at the 7 Flags Event Center in Clive, Iowa. This gave the band exposure to a lot of new fans, and marked the beginning of their relationship with Iowa Rock Productions, a small organization that would push and support the band over the next few years. Then on July 22, 2005, the band had the opportunity to open for Bowling For Soup at the House of Bricks. They won over a great number of fans that had yet to be exposed to the local music scene. The expansion of their fanbase was evidenced by a sold-out show they played alongside Spoken at the House of Bricks on September 10 of the same year.
The weekend of March 31 and April 1 of 2006 proved to be yet another big weekend for the band. On March 31, the band was a part of the first annual Gross Domestic Product, a highly-promoted event that put the spotlight on Des Moines-based talent. Over 2000 people were in attendance for the event. The following day, they shared the stage with Plain White T's at an event hosted by Iowa State University. They toured to the East Coast and back in the summer of 2006, and earned a spot on selected dates of a tour that featured The Wedding, Run Kid Run, and Last Tuesday (who the band had become good friends with). On November 25, 2006, the band headlined their first sell-out show at the House of Bricks, with their local friends General Sherman and Stallions Versus Unicorns.
The band reportedly draws its name from the character "
Arthur Spooner " from the Americansituation comedy "King of Queens ". It has been rumored that the members of the band are all politically active and that the majority of their songs are actually allegories promoting their liberal political views; the band refuses to comment on this subject. The members of Stuck With Arthur went to the Dallas Center-Grimes school district. This includes Dallas Center-Grimes high school.
