"Krishnaveni" is a 1974 Telugu feature film directed by V. Madhusudhan Rao, starring Vanisri and Krishnam Raju, under the banner of Gopikrishna movies. The film met with a strong critical reception and commercial success upon release. The movie was about a lady suffering from hysteria and the emotional trauma of her family.

Plot

Movie starts with marriage of a young couple and continues with family life and kids. The couple decides to go to a tourist place called Amaravati. The lady had bad memories of her childhood abuse and the place in her subconscious mind. She starts having hallucinations, overwhelming fear and other symptoms of illness. She will be sent to a mental hospital and be treated by psychologists. After her return from hospital, she will be not be welcome by her family members, kids, neighbours and even her friends. Society is afraid of her. Evil people misuse this opportunity. Slight disagreement or argument also will be treated as a sign of her disease. She could not regain the affection of her husband and kids. The movie ends on a sad note, but gives message about misconceptions about its victims and requests to help the victims of hysteria.

The soundtrack features 5 songs composed by Ramesh Naidu, with lyrics by C. Narayanareddy. Many of them are successful melodies.
