Victor Emanuel Lindstrand

Victor Emanuel Lindstrand (also known as Vicke Lindstrand) (born in Göteborg, Sweden, 1904- died in Småland, 1983) was a Swedish glass designer. He is considered as a pioneer in the history of Swedish glass art.

Background

As a child, Lindstrand was interested in drawing. He had studied commercial art and worked in commercial illustration before beginning his career at glass manufacturers Orrefors in 1928. In 1950 he joined Kosta Glasbruk as an artistic director before his retirement in 1973. He then spent the last 10 years if his life as a freelance artist working with Hanne Dreutler and Arthur Zirrnsack at Studio Glashyttan in Åhus.

He created arguably some of the best pieces of mid-century art glass during this time.
