Windsor Terrace is a neighborhood in the
New York City borough ofBrooklyn . It is bounded by Prospect Park to the northeast andGreen-Wood Cemetery , aNational Historic Landmark , to the southwest. Its southeastern boundary is Fort Hamilton Parkway, while to the northwest it is bordered by Prospect Park West. It is between the neighborhoods of Park Slope to the northwest and Kensington to the southeast.The subway arrived in 1933 with the building of the
IND South Brooklyn Line , the "Culver Line" (now known as the F train), including the 15th Street-Prospect Park and Fort Hamilton Parkway stations.Isaac Asimov 's family moved to Windsor Terrace about this time, and Asimov wrote his famous short story "Nightfall" in his bedroom in the family home on Windsor Place. Al Pacino film "Dog Day Afternoon " was filmed on Prospect Park West between 17th Street and 18th Street in Windsor Terrace. The sister movies "Smoke" and 1995 "Blue in the Face " were filmed at the Western Union at 16th Street and Prospect Park West, and "As Good as It Gets " shows houses in the neighborhood, and Farrell's Bar (also seen in the film "Pollock" withEd Harris ), an old and famous institution, also at 16th Street & Prospect Park West. TheDarren Aronofsky movie "π" has several subway shots in the 15th Street-Prospect Park station.
