Dan K. Rosenthal is a native of Brookline, Massachusetts, and an alumnus of Brookline High School. He served on the White House senior staff as Assistant to the President and Director of Advance (1997–2000), and as Special Assistant to the President and Deputy Director of Advance (1995–1997) under President Bill Clinton. An attorney, Rosenthal was one of the youngest persons to hold the commission Assistant to the President.
The Office of Presidential Advance coordinates all preparatory and logistical arrangements, and crafts the news visuals for Presidential visits and public appearances throughout the U.S. and the world. The Advance Office works in close coordination with other White House offices to develop presidential events designed to deliver the desired communications, political, and public diplomacy goals of the White House. White House Advance staff work in close coordination with the U.S. Secret Service and U.S. Military personnel serving in support mission for the President of the U.S.
The Director of Advance oversees a staff of dozens of advance personnel that are deployed as Advance Teams in each location to be visited by the U.S. President. The Director of Advance serves as the lead negotiator with foreign governments in preparing for the U.S. President's international travels, bilateral, and multilateral summit meetings.
Dan Rosenthal currently works as a Senior Vice President at the Albright Stonebridge Group, a leading global strategy firm.
