February 12 1941 –June 10 1995 ,Wellington ,New Zealand ) was aNew Zealand musician andactor , born David Charles Lawrence inWorthing ,West Sussex ,England . His family migrated to New Zealand in 1946, settling in New Plymouth before moving to Wellington in 1948. He spent most of his life in New Zealand and also worked extensively inAustralia . Bruno was a renownedjazz drummer, playing drums in many bands, includingBlerta , andThe Crocodiles . He also acted in many movies, including "Goodbye Pork Pie " (1981), "Smash Palace " (1981), "The Quiet Earth" (1985) , at the time the highest-grossing New Zealandfilm , and "Bridge to Nowhere" (1986).His last role was as devious, golf-loving TV producer Brian Thompson in the 1990s Australian satirical television series "Frontline". In 1995 during the filming of "
