Cusack previosuly played for theSydney Roosters andSouth Sydney Rabbitohs in the AustralianNational Rugby League (NRL) competition.Cusack made his first grade debut with the Sydney Roosters in 1998. A front-rower, Cusack was one of the last remaining top level league players to hold a job outside football, working part time as a
plumber Fact|date=June 2007. He played in fourGrand final s for the Roosters (2000, 2002–04) and was a member of the premiership-winning 2002 team. He was also a member of the Roosters side that won theWorld Club Challenge in 2003. In 2002 Cusack won the Roosters award for the "Clubman of the Year".In 2005, Cusack joined the South Sydney Rabbitohs. He served as a co-captain at the club, along with
Roy Asotasi andDavid Kidwell .Cusack signed with
