It lies below the peaks ofPen yr Ole Wen andCarnedd Dafydd at a height of Convert|2225|ft|m|0 and covers an area of some Convert|6|acre|ha|2|abbr=on.The remains of two wartime aircraft, which crashed in 1942 and 1943, lie on the slopes round the lake.
