- Jack Roeser
Jack Roeser is the Founder and President of the [Family Taxpayers Foundation] , a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization since 1989 that promotes the Constitutional ideals of personal freedom, individual responsibility and morality that releases people to apply initiative in their personal lives as well as their business practices. The primary focus of this foundation is to promote school choice as a catalyst for improvement in the public school system and as a vehicle for choices in education that will benefit students and empower parents.
Jack Roeser is an entrepreneur in business and politics. He is Chairman and founder of [Otto Engineering Inc.] in Carpentersville, Illinois which manufactures electronic control and communication switches for aerospace, medical and industrial uses since 1961. Previously, he started three other successful businesses which are now owned by large corporations. In 2006, Otto had over 500 employees and annual sales of over $79 million.
Jack enlisted in the Army in 1942 and served in the Combat Engineers in the South Pacific. He challenged incumbent Governor
Jim Edgar in the Republican primary in1994 but lost with 26% of the vote. He also served by appointment on Governor Edgar's Education Transition Team and Lamar Alexander's Education 2000 in Illinois.In 1991, Jack was selected as "High Tech Entrepreneur of the Year" in Illinois. He was also chosen as an Outstanding Alumnus of the University of Illinois in 1996. A Pi Tau Sigma honors graduate of the University of Illinois in Mechanical Engineering, Jack has received over 50 patents in Electrical, Mechanical, Machinery and Marine products.
In 2004, a Federal Election Commission complaint by a Washington, DC based group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, alleged that Mr. Roeser illegally funded a series of attack ads against Barack Obama who was running for U.S. Senate against Alan Keyes.(1) Nearly three years later, the FEC dismissed this complaint, citing No Reason to Believe (No RTB) the allegations against Mr. Roeser. (2)
Jack Roeser is also a competetive sailor winning many races over several decades. In 1988, he skippered his boat "The Jeannine" to win the Mackinac Cup in the Chicago Yacht Club's 90th Race to Mackinac. (3)
Jack lives in Barrington Illinois with his wife Jeannine.
