Born inColorado and raised inTexas , Weaver moved toBirmingham, England in 2005 after his former band (coincidentally named "Stories Of London") broke up. He released his first EP, the self-recorded "Civil War Between My Heart and Mind," in April of 2006. [ [http://www.crossrhythms.co.uk/articles/music/Levi_Weaver_An_American_In_Birmingham/22137/p1/ Levi Weaver: An American In Birmingham: Birmingham England, not Alabama ] ] . This EP has since been licensed to Respect Music, a publishing company in England.During the fall of 2006, Weaver toured with
Kid Beyond andImogen Heap . Both Weaver and Kid Beyond opened for Heap, and also supported her during her sets as part of her band.Due to the extended absence from his job in England while touring, Weaver lost his British visa and in February 2007 moved back to the United States. He currently resides in or near
Nashville, TN .After three separate announced-then-rescheduled release dates, Weaver's first full-length album, "You Are Never Close To Home, You Are Never Far From Home" was finally made available at a CD Release show in
Fort Worth, Texas at the Ridglea Theater. The official release date has been announced as January 6th, though the album was available on iTunes before 2007 was over.In early 2008, Weaver posted a blog on his website and MySpace page about the "You Are Never Close To Home, You Are Never Far From Home" tour, informing people in the Western United States that he was planning on doing a self-booked house tour. From April 1st through May 3rd, Weaver drove around most of the Western half of the country in a 1992 Honda Accord, playing 24 shows in several states. Dates for the Eastern United States & European legs of the tour have been announced on his MySpace.
Songs
Weaver wrote "Del Cielo" to cope with a family tragedy. At 17, Weaver and his 13-year-old brother were involved in a car accident; Weaver suffered minimal injuries while, tragically, his brother passed.
"Independent Spirit"
Levi has often stated that he prefers the ideals of Independent Music, and has frequently made known his relative disdain for the current state of the Music Industry. In May 2008, using clips he shot whilst on tour, he released a video to
YouTube titled "What This Looks Like...". In it, Weaver is quoted as saying "I don't really feel like I'm part of this dying old machine they call 'The Industry'. Everyone I know that loves music doesn't even listen to the radio anymore, so how is that even a music industry?... That old dinosaur of A&R agents and slick dealings and development deals; they took the name 'music industry' back when it applied, but now that it no longer does, they're not going to give it back... we have to come up with a new name for what it even means to make music anymore..."On August 20th, 2008, Levi posted an Open Letter to the
RIAA in his blog. [ [http://www.leviweaver.com/blog/?p=117#respond] This incendiary letter spoke angrily of the possibility thatPandora.com would soon be shutting down due to measures taken by theRiaa andSoundExchange . The letter was quickly re-posted on dozens of P2P sites. The letter can be read in its entirety on Weaver's blog, which is posted on his official website, and hisMySpace .Discography
