The Last... series

"The Last"... series is a series of books by late Scottish author Harry Horse. It consists of four books—"The Last Polar Bears", "The Last Gold Diggers", "The Last Cowboys" and "The Last Castaways". "The Last Polar Bears" was turned into a 30-minute cartoon for CITV in 2000. They all tell of the travels of Grandpa and his dog, Roo, who is based on Harry's real-life dog of the same name and are told through Grandpa's letters to his Granddaughter.

"The Last Polar Bears"

Grandpa and Roo travel by boat to the North Pole where they hope to find the last colony of Polar Bears in the world, a possible homage to Polar Bears being an endangered species.

"The Last Gold Diggers"

Grandpa and roo go to find Grandpa's ancestors buried treasure in Australia.

"The Last Cowboys"

Grandpa and Roo take a holiday to North America via "The Get Lost Travel Agency" in the hope of finding Roo's long lost grandfather.

"The Last Castaways"

Grandpa and Roo go on the Unsinkable to catch fish and end up on a deserted island.
