Marvel Universe .Inferno is a demon and enemy of Johnny Blaze, the original Ghost Rider. He is a subordinate of the demon known as Mephisto.
Publication history
The character first appears as the human Slifer in "Ghost Rider" Vol. II #4 (April, 1974), by
Gary Friedrich andJim Mooney . He subsequently appeared in issues #5-7 of the series (April-August 1974). The first appearance of his powered-up alter-ego Inferno is in Ghost Rider II #8 (October 1974). Inferno also appeared in issues #9 (December 1974) and #11 (April 1975) of the series.Fictional character biography
Inferno uses his powers to send the people of
San Francisco after Ghost Rider, who manages to fight them off without hurting them. Ghost Rider uses a flare to blind Inferno. He is soon subdued.Blaze participates a in a desert marathon race. Inferno tricks the Hulk into attacking the participants. Ghost Rider burns up the oxygen around the Hulk, temporarily subduing him. Inferno manages to escape.
Powers and abilities
Inferno is superstrong and resistant to harm. He can send crowds in a mass frenzy and direct them towards a specific goal. He can take human form at will, though it is not clear if this is simply illusion. He can literally move between Hell and Earth at will. He can fly and also has the knowledge to operate a helicopter. He has the ability to project energy rings.
