Neil Khor

Neil Khor Jin Keong (born 1972) is a social historian of Penang. His published works include "Glimpses of Old Penang" (Star Publications 2002), "The Penang Turf Club: 140 Years of Racing" (2004) and the Malaysian Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society's monograph - "The Penang Po Leung Kuk: Chinese Women, Prostitution and a Welfare Organisation" (2003), of which he co-authored with Khoo Keat Siew.

Khor, born and bred in Penang, had his early education at St. Xavier's Institution before earning a Bachelor's degree in English and an MA in American Drama from the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur. He subsequently read for his PhD at the University of Cambridge. Khor is also an editorial board member of the Southeast Asian Review of English, a scholarly journal published by the Malaysian Association for Commonwealth Literature and Language Studies.

His articles on Penang were published in The Star newspaper under the theme "Penang Story". He also writes letters to Malaysiakini on Malaysia's political, social and cultural scene. Khor was executive editor of Heritage Asia magazine, a Malaysia-Singapore based publication of which he was a founding member.
