Tune is a small town east of
Roskilde ,Denmark . It is mostly known for its airport. It is also one of the oldest towns in the area (at least 800 years old), mostly due to its ties with Roskilde, one of Denmark's oldest cities.In the middle age, Tune was the largest village, with most farms. It was also a middle station for the kings, traveling from Roskilde to Mosede, because Mosede had a natural harbour.In Tune, there is about 8000 inhabitants. Mostly residential, but also a little commercial and industrial areas. 2 schools, (1 from 0-5th grade, and the other 0-9th grade)a tiny mall with a library, two supermarkets, a couple of clothshops, 2 realestate agents, a restaurant and two pizzerias, a bank, and other shops.
There are two districts, the old part and the new part. The old part of the city is with twisted streets, and old houses.Tune is in Greve municipality, which is under "Region Sjælland"From July 1st 2008, Tune have been given a local zipcode "4030 Tune" prior having had "4000 Roskilde"
Tune has a church from middle age, which is quite small, compared to the city's size.
The name "Tune" is the plural form of tún n 'fenced area; country courtyard' (cognate to English town).
