George Beet (
May 30 1904 –August 22 1949 ) was an Englishcricket er. He was a right-handed batsman and wicket-keeper who represented Derbyshire andMarylebone Cricket Club during a ten-year first-class career. He was born and died inSomercotes , Derbyshire.Beet's father, George, and nephew Gordon, were also cricketers.
Beet made his first two appearances for Derbyshire during the 1928 season, however, he was dropped from the team and didn't appear again until 1932. Beet was an occasional middle-order batsman who, despite a duck from the tailend in his first match, attempted to have his reputation cemented in the middle order. Having started the 1932 season poorly, he finished with a solid top-score of 35 not out, bested just once in his career by his sole half-century.
Following the end of his Derbyshire career, Beet played five times for Marylebone Cricket Club, between 1933 and 1938. Beet later umpired one first-class match, during the 1947 season. He was a lower-order batsman.
