History

The club was created in 1970 as part of FC Lyon. They became notable during the 1990s, winning the women's championship on four occasions and finishing runner-up once. Since the move, they have won two league titles (2007 and 2008) and have also won the Challenge de France in 2008 after finishing runner-up in three straight seasons. The OL Ladies also reached prominence on the European stage reaching the semi-finals of the 2007-08 UEFA Women's Cup before being knocked out by Swedish side Umeå IK.
