TheGeorge Richardson Memorial Trophy championsOshawa Generals of the Ontario Hockey Association inEastern Canada competed against theAbbott Cup champions Edmonton Oil Kings of theCentral Alberta Hockey League inWestern Canada .Maple Leaf Gardens inToronto, Ontario hosted the finals, which featuredBobby Orr , the Generals captain. It was the last of 18 Memorial Cup series to be played at the Gardens. In a best-of-seven series, Edmonton won their 2nd Memorial Cup, defeating Oshawa 4 games to 2.cores
