Argir . They play in the1. deild , the second highest division in Faroese football. They play their home games atVika Stadium in Argir.History
Argja Bóltfelag (or AB) was founded on
15 August 1973 by Danish resident Johnny Nyby and other football lovers on Argjum. In the spring of 1974 AB got a board, composed of Johnny Nyby, Chairman; Fróði Olsen, Co-Chairman; Sonja á Argjaboða, accountant; and Kristian Arge, board writer. Other members of the board were Erling Olsen, Sæmundur Mortenen and Jens Hansen. In the same year the team started in the regular competition. They had poor training facilities at first - they trained in a school yard. Later they got a small ground to train on, but it was only 20 x 40 m². There was no football field on Argjum at the time, but they were allowed to loan the field Gundadalur, which belongs to HB and B36. AB practiced and played their matches in Gundadali, and this helped the team to survive.
In 1983 a football field was built on Argjum. This helped the team a lot, because they had their own field. In 1985 a new two-storey house was built for AB. AB did get the lower storey, and the second storey was a school classroom.
For some years, the second storey remained a kindergarten school. In 1998 artificial grass was put on the football field, and the team had the same training facility as the rest of the football teams in the Faroes. In 2004 AB had grown enough to get the whole house.
From 2000 Tórálvur Stenberg was the chairman for AB, and he brought them from 3rd division all the way to Formuladeildin in 2006. Sadly, he did not see AB play in Formuladeildina, because he died of cancer in the fall. Stenberg was the first to become an honorary member of the team. He put his life and soul into Argja Bóltfelag. Two of his sons, Jónas and Heðin Stenberg, play in AB.
upporters
The supporters of Argja Bóltfelag (AB), are called Frensurin. Frensurin is a Faroe's name for a male cat, and the came from the local people where called Argja Frensar.
The supporters club was founded in 2006. The board of Frensurin was Steinbjørn Olsen, Chairman; Regin Dalgarð accountant; and Petur Midjord board writer.
The rule of the supporters was that they always have to be in a good mood and they had to cheer on the team.
Frensurin did make a real noise, went to B36 Tórshavn and AB played in the Faroes Cup (Løgmannssteypið), B36 Tórshavn was the former Cup winners, and AB had something to show, the fans were real happy, when AB scored to 0-1, but that is not the only thing that happened, AB did win the match 1-3, and the fans ran in to the pitch to congratuled the players.
Frensurin cheered a lot for AB, and as the cheering did go on, they started to sing, and it was the melody to "Yellow Submarine - The Beatles", and the referee thought that the song was at him, because he gave a lot of yellow cards.
When B36 Tórshavn and AB played, did Frensurin only cheer on one players from B36 Tórshavn, and it was none other than Allan Mørkøre, now Manager to AB, but when he played with B36 Tórshavn, he was transferred from AB to B36 Tórshavn, and then later that season he came back to AB.
Frensurin did win something, because at the end of the year they won; (the noisiest support team and best support team 2007).
