The FOR is a small revolutionary communist tendency based on the ideas of Grandizo Munis a leader of the Trotskyist movement in Spain during the Civil War. He founded the FOR after his release from prison for anti-Franco activities. At its high point FOR had supporters in France, Spain, Greece and could also count the FOCUS group in the USA led by Stephen Schwartz.
