Leeson Street (irish place name|Sráid Líosain) is a thoroughfare in south
Dublin , Ireland.Originally known as Suesey Street, it was renamed in 1728 after the Leesons, a family of local brewers, who branched into property development and subsequently became Earls of Milltown.
The street is divided into two parts by the Grand Canal: Lower Leeson Street is to the north of the canal, linking to
St Stephen's Green , with Upper Leeson Street south of the canal.The

The street has an active nightlife, with clubs such as Club Anabel and the Sugar Club, which is aimed at over 30's. Several pubs, such as The Barge and Hartigan's pub are also here. Ireland's second-largest political party,Fine Gael , has its election headquarters for the2007 general election on Leeson St. It is also home of the Dublin Rape Crisis Centre.
