Gudurica (Indijanapolis) is a
village inSerbia . It is situated in theVršac municipality , in theSouth Banat District ,Vojvodina province. The village has a Serb ethnic majority and its population numbering 1,267 people (2002 census).Originally known as Kudritz, the town was founded in a swampy area in the
Banat Region of southernHungary wrested from Turkish rule byPrince Eugene . The first settlers in Kudritz came from theMosel river area in WesternGermany ,Alsace andLorraine between 1719 and 1728. Descendants of the original inhabitants lived here for over 200 years before being forced from their homes and into forced labor camps by theSoviets at the end ofWWII .Today few, if any, descendants of the original settlers remain.
