Houilles , a suburb ofParis , she was the sister ofYvonne Loriod , the pianist and second wife ofOlivier Messiaen . She performed all of Messaien's works for ondes martenot, most notably the "Turangalila Symphony " which she recorded six times. The work was not written for her, however, butGinette Martenot , sister of the inventor Maurice.Loriod performed the entire classical ondes repertoire, and published a definitive work on the instrument, "Technique de l’onde electronique type martenot" (1987).
