electromechanical components. The company was founded byPaul Andrews in1971 . As a former parts buyer forGeneral Dynamics , a military aircraft manufacturer, Andrews developed a specialized inventory with emphasis on capacitors, resistors and connectors and combined it with supply chain management systems.Originally named Tex-Tronics, Inc., Andrews changed the name to TTI, Inc. in
1973 to avoid a legal dispute involving another company with a similar name. Though it began as a very small entrepreneurial endeavor, TTI is now ranked fifth in North American electronic distribution sales [Teague, P. (ed.) (2006). "2005 North American Rankings," Purchasing, Vol. 135, No. 6, p. 48] and eighth in global electronic distribution sales [ Rayner, B. (2006). "The 2005 Top Global Distributors," Electronics Supply & Manufacturers, Vol. 3, No. 5, p. 56] , based on 2005 sales. Locally, TTI is the second largest private company inTarrant County . [Connor, R. "50 to Watch," The Electronics Industry's Movers & Shakers of 2003, p. 194]TTI’s original customer base consisted primarily of companies that manufactured military/aerospace electronic products. Their distribution products and services have expanded to cover more of the commercial and automotive markets as well. Typical customers include component manufacturers, cable assembly houses and small- to medium-sized electronics manufacturers. Berkshire Hathaway . The acquisition was completed on March 30, 2007.External links
