The Teddy Bear Alliance was a joke political party formed by Dom Joly for his TV show "War of the Flea". In the 1997 UK general election he contested the Kensington and Chelsea seat under the name "Edward 'Teddy' Bear". Hiring out hundreds of teddy bear costumes, he staged mock protests in Westminster and received 218 votes. By the next general election Joly's interests were elsewhere and The Alliance never registered as a political party under the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000
